The painting depicts leaves from plant species containing medicinal properties which grow in the artists homeland of Utopia. The Aboriginal women gather these leaves to use as bush medicine.
The leaves are boiled, kangaroo resin added and mixed into a paste. Aboriginal people use bush medicine to treat a variety of ailments.
The women from Utopia celebrate the Bush Leaf Dreaming in their awelye ceremonies.
