Barney Ellaga is a senior law man of the Alawa community in the Northern territory. He has intimate knowledge of his traditional homelands and it is this subject, Alawa Country, that his work most represents.
In a response to the land of his birth Barney uses extraordinary colour compliments to portray his beloved country terrains.
“This is where the Dreamtime Kangaroo left all the red ochre. We use it for dance and corroboree”.
