The painting refers to the Mina Mina women (ancestors), as they travelled across the significant site salt on Mina Mina, Lake Mackay, north-west of Yuendumu in Central Australia. Throughout their journey the women shaped the landscape with digging sticks and performed ceremonies, which embraced song lines and dance cycles.


Other significant sites depicted are sand hills, spinifex, water soakage, claypans and salt lakes. These places carry deep spiritual meaning associated with womens dreaming (karntakurlangu jukurrpa).
