Parwalla is the artist’s father’s country, which lies far to the South of Balgo Hillsin the Great Sandy Desert near Kiwirrkura. It is a large swampy area dominated by sandhills that fills with water after the wet season and becomes abundant with bush foods. These include bush raisins (kantiliyi), bush tomatoes (Pura) and seeds (Minyli). The painting dominated the various shades of the surrounding Spinfiex that grows strong and seeds after the wet season.
