The painting represents the curling pattern of the Mountain Devil Lizard's skin.


In the Dreamtime, it is believed the lizard collected, then deposited natural earth pigment (ochre) throughout the Anmatyerre country, Utopia in Central Australia.


Aboriginal people use natural ochre for body painting in their ceremonies.
