The painting depicts the Bush tomato (awele-awele). The bush tomato is an edible food source (bush tucker) for the Aboriginal people living in Central Australia. The Eastern Arrernte Aboriginal women gather the fruit at certain times of the year, generally after rain. When the fruit ripens it turns a purple colour.
The concentric circles depicted represent the place where the awele-awele grow
