The young Aboriginal woman’s eyes are swollen and red from crying.....crying over her family who are in prison.

They are released and come home to her, until next time when once again she will be travelling and visiting and leaving them.

She again bids them goodbye until the next time she visits.

I taught art in Corrective Services facilities and like this young woman I shed tears for the boys and men and women who I fervently didn’t want to see come back to prison.

The young woman asks why there is not more post release care to keep her family from returning to gaol.

Is there an answer?

No, that’s too hard and it won’t be on the Agenda until next time...or the time after....

The women will continue to cry.
