Using Aboriginal iconography the painting depicts the Dreamtime story of the Possum, the journey path created by the possums tail, as it travelled from waterhole to waterhole.

Depicted symbols or icons are:

  • The E shapes represent the possum tracks
  • The concentric circles represent the waterholes
  • The lines represent the journey path

  • The U shape (left side) represents the Japaljarri man with nulla nulla (throwing stick) and boomerang (no.7)
  • The U shape (bottom) represents the Jungurrayi man with nulla nulla and boomerang
