The painting is inspired by the forever changing landscapes of the Northern Territory. Every day I would wake and see the country in a different light. This painting is trying to recreate a desert sunset be it the desert sky or the hot sands. I tried to depict my vision for this work in a poem below:
In the middle of the steamy desert day
When the sun is the highest the sands will obey
Forced to gleam and glisten under the heat
This brilliant place where sun and earth meet
These dancing sands that moved with the light
Made the horizon beam as if almost alight
The dunes they will flow so perfectly curved
This was a sight that few had observed
Story details and poem written by Talisha King, an emerging young artist supported by Central Art.
